What should the Okamisan do with the Teahouse?
Nothing. It's OK as it is, and people will come when they can. [ 2 ]  [40.00%]
Do some promotions. New contributors might liven things up. [ 3 ]  [60.00%]
Close it down. [ 0 ]  [0.00%]
There's another option. I'll explain below. [ 0 ]  [0.00%]

Hello Friends and Patrons!

The Teahouse has been very, very quiet recently, especially in the last six to eight months. I know that during the summer there were some unfortunate disruptions, and I would like to again apologize for those.

I also realize that our members are busy folks with lots going on, and there's not always time to check out the latest doings on the board, let alone to start new conversations.

So I would like to ask all of you (and I am sending an email to all board members, asking them to please check out this thread) for your opinion. Should I just close the board down? Should I do some promotions, to encourage new members to join and existing members to post? Or should I just leave things as they are?

Any other thoughts or suggestions are welcome too. Please let me know what you think.

best wishes,
Jamie

I vote in favor of promotions, mainly in the hope that would revive interest in the Teahouse.

To be honest, disruptions have been an issue, but only because nothing positive appeared in their place... or at least it was a long time until something positive did come along to change the atmosphere. Any community must be maintained, whether it's tempered down or revitalized. It's important to take action, not simply react.

Maybe this is one of those times.

Okay, I meant to click #2, but I was in a hurry. Promotions are perfectly fine. I haven't participated much for lack of brain cycles, and the gaming boards are a must.

Randomly, perhaps some of the forums need renovating. For instance, changing out ones that don't draw much interest for ones that might cross-pollinate. You could morph Feline Follies into a general Pets category or lump RPG talk into the gaming forum. And then you'd be able to perhaps advertise (is that the right word?) those forums in other boards of a similar ilk. People drawn in for one thing might filter over to other things and then you get a nice diverse crowd.

The only reason this occured to me is because I wanted to tell you....I adopted another dog! EEE! He's sweet and is getting along great with Jack (the 1yo corgi) great so far. smile.gif

Congratulations! Looking forward to hearing about him.

And thank you for the suggestions. I've already made the change with the cats/pets forum. Thinking about a few others.
